The Daphnes – Galapagos

The Daphnes

Two tiny tuff cones located just off Santa Cruz, near Baltra. Visits to Daphne Major are tightly restricted and as a result this isn’t included on any of the yachts itinerary and very few people are able to visit. Finches, Blue-footed Boobies and Red-billed Tropicbirds nest in the crater. Nazca Boobies and Frigate birds nest on the flanks. Actually getting ashore is extremely challenging, requiring a steep ascent up a rock-face, from a rolling panga. There is no visitor access to flat-topped Daphne Minor.
